Summer Institute

June 2008

Our Eleventh Annual Summer Institute in Counseling takes place from Monday, June 18, to Friday, July 6. The theme of this year's institute, cosponsored by the Virginia Counselors Association, is "Learning By Heart." The Summer Institute will feature workshops on psychopharmacology, play-based disaster interventions, school counseling, hypnotic techniques, and crisis intervention.

If you would like to earn graduate academic credit for attending any of the workshops, download the Academic Credit FAQ (PDF). Two day workshops can be taken for 1 credit. The school counseling course is a version of the 3-credit-hour PSYC 640 that combines onsite and online learning experiences.

JMU is an NBCC-approved provider of continuing education units. NBCC continuing education units meet the continuing competency requirements for LPC licensure renewal in Virginia.
