Welcome to JMU’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. We are a dynamic group of faculty and students who work together to create an engaging and comprehensive training experience. As a result, our students are taught to become ethical and skilled clinical mental health counselors who intervene effectively with diverse individuals, families, couples, and groups to help them accomplish their mental health and wellness goals.

We believe that competent clinical practice rests on a foundation of accurate self-awareness; we therefore strive to offer thoughtful instruction and supervision in a context of respect and shared goals, such as wellness and cultural competence. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program is also committed to offering an inclusive environment for our students and colleagues. We work with the JMU Office of Access and Inclusion and Disability Services to help us meet the needs of all of our students.

We appreciate your interest in the program and invite you to look through the pages of this site to get a better sense of our learning community. Please feel free to contact us if you would like more information. We will be happy to talk with you!
