On September 1st, 2017, Dr. Patricia "Patti" Warner retired after 27 years of service to James Madison University. During her 27 years at JMU she has mentored over 270 graduate students, published more than 45 publications, visited dozens of interns around the country, and touched many lives.

Tiffany Hornsby is joining the school psychology program. She is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She earned her B.S. in psychology from Howard University. She went on to earn her M.S. in school psychometrics and Ph.D. in school psychology from Oklahoma State University.

Nick Curtis (10, 11, 13) cant get away from JMU. After earning his B.S. in Psychology and M.A./Ed.S. in School Psychology, he has now returned as a doctoral student in the Assessment and Measurement program (18). His previous experiences at JMU, as well as his subsequent time as a school psychologist, affected his decision to pursue his Ph.D.

Through the Cultural Competency Practitioner Initiative (CCPI), the school psychology program equips students with the necessary skills to be advocates for children and families from a variety of ethnicities and cultures.

Greetings and thank you for visiting the School Psychology website! As Program Director I invite you to explore our community and training practices through the materials provided here. The School Psychology Program is fully approved by the National Association of School Psychologists and offers the Educational Specialist Degree. The program focus is on understanding children within a system’s context, including the school, family and community.
