About the Department of Psychology
The mission of the Department of Psychology is to educate students in, and contribute to, the science of psychology.
The Department of Psychology is committed to providing superlative educational experiences for undergraduate students at JMU whether enrolled in our popular major, our general education courses, or in other programs that require psychology experiences. Our faculty are committed to research and service, and we engage in many projects that are conducted in collaboration with our students. These activities not only advance the science of psychology and help people, but also serve as educational experiences for our students. Our graduates are well prepared to attend graduate programs in psychology, counseling and other fields. Many obtain excellent bachelors-level positions in business, social services, the criminal justice system, and in scientific applications.
