LeAnn Whitlock Memorial Scholarship
This award recognizes distinguished academic performance and service to the university by an African American student.
2009 Award Recipients

- Shavonne Turner
- Shavonne Turner – Shavonne worked with Dr. Rogers on an independent study research project involving video speed effect on visual perception. Last year she served as vice-president of the Association of Black Psychologists and is currently serving as president. Her interests in pursuing community service lead her to complete an Emergency Medical Technician certification and volunteer locally with the Bridgewater Rescue Squad. Shavonne intends to go to medical school and specialize in psychiatry following graduation.

- Jessica Dandridge
- Jessica Dandridge - has a minor in Family Studies and is currently working on an Honors Thesis with Dr Kahn. She is planning to study conformity in children seven to nine years old. She also has worked with victims of domestic violence. Her professional goal is obtaining a degree in school psychology.
2006
- Monique Hall - is a junior psychology major with an interest in abnormal psychology. She is also completing a minor in family studies. She has served as a resident advisor for Logan Hall, Disability Services, and Students for Minority Outreach. She has participated in the “Baby Think It Over” project. She has also conducted research on the career aspirations of children with learning disabilities with Dr. Trice. After completing her undergraduate degree and graduate school, Monique hopes to work at a community mental health center specializing in the inpatient programs.
2005
- Deanna Yuille – Deanna has been a member of the Psychology Learning Community since her freshman year. During her sophomore year, she was chosen to be a First-Year Orientation Guide. In this role, she was a mentor for a first-year student. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Minority Pre-Health Association, and is currently participating in the Center for Multicultural/International Student Services experiential learning program.
