As Director of the Ph.D. in Counseling and Supervision, I thank you for your interest in our program. We feel so fortunate to be part of a community of dedicated faculty and students. And we are committed to training excellent counselors and counselor educators who impact their clients and communities through their clinical work, research, teaching, leadership, and outreach.

Our faculty emphasizes the importance of training in a context that develops well-rounded, self-aware, individuals as they would toward becoming counselor educators, supervisors, advocates, and leaders.  We provide an intimate setting of safety and mutual respect that encourages self-exploration and personal growth. We encourage our students to get involved in the program, the university, and our beautiful Shenandoah Valley community.

Please take time to explore all the information and resources on this website and feel free to contact me if you’d like to speak further. We do hope you’ll consider joining us on your path to becoming a counselor educator!

With gratitude,

Debbie C. Sturm, PhD, LPC
