One of the strengths of the CSPA program is the quality and variety of experiential opportunities woven into the curriculum. CSPA students deepen their learning through the completion of two unique 150 hour practica in a variety of university offices at JMU, surrounding colleges, and/or at universities across the country.

Practica Descriptions

Practica provide students with the opportunity to complete important work needed by departments while developing skills to prepare to serve as a new professional such as:

  • Event planning
  • Program design and/or implementation
  • Research
  • Student advising/mentoring
  • Student staff selection and training
  • Shadowing staff, observing departmental functioning, experiencing campus culture

Practica are available in campus departments such as:
